An astonishing and beautiful tale of a frontier scout who saves a young Cheyenne girl from the prospect of rape and murder at the hands of his own army. The favour is returned when the scout is saved by the Cheyenne and given mercy, but when he falls in love with the girl he saved he knows that the tribe will never allow them to be together. They escape, but are forced to abandon their flight when they encounter an omen telling them that she is pledged to another. This frontier tale soon becomes a violent present day manhunt through the Wild West.
Part of the Storycuts series, this short story was previously published in the collection The Veteran.

Frederick Forsyth, to my mind, has no parallel as a modern writer. The writing is excellet, plots unusual, and the his books are always well researched. I would recommend this read to everybody and anybody. To pick up a Forsyth, creates a feeling of excitemnet before the first page has been turned.Product details

Whispering Wind Storycuts eBook Frederick Forsyth Reviews
Quite simply the best supernatural story ever written! Should be made into a film. Stephan Spielberg would be the best director.
A fascinating novel with insights into the
Treatment of Native Americans in19th century America; with a supernatural bent. I lived with the Sioux for years and lived near Red Lodge, Montana, in a home that is on the route the main characters take to flee pursuers. I can vouch for those aspects of this fine work.
Whispering Wind is a quite magnificent, highly touching story. I read it about twice a year, couldn't be without it.
It is really several stories in one, teaches us history, inspires us to know more about Custer & his battles, gets us
to really feel the difference between 1870 & 1970, to wish to visit Montana! As to the man chase, this is gripping,
Forsyth at his very best. A great author having the courage to try something new and succeeding. As to the
esoteric part,it is so touchingly described that I wonder what gave him the inspiration - was he indeed overlighted?
Tell me, folks!

Frontier scout, Ben Craig, is the only survivor of Custer’s last stand at The Little Bighorn. Don’t let that put you off as Forsyth explores the deep-seated belief of the Spirit World by the Cheyenne Nation. A beautiful story of love, lost and regeneration that stretches into the modern world. The story is told with great insight and sympathy by a master storyteller.

Mot the kind of story that I would normally associate with Forsyth, but immensely enjoyable. Well thought out but strange
